Trimroll: Photo Cleaner

Privacy policy.

Trimroll works on your photos without an account and without uploading them anywhere. This page explains what stays on your device and what Apple and our advertising provider process.

Effective 26 September 2026

Who is responsible

Serhii Omelchenko is the developer and data controller for Trimroll: Photo Cleaner. For privacy questions or requests, email somelchenko.work@gmail.com.

Your photos

With your permission, Trimroll reads your photo library through Apple’s Photos framework so it can show your photos one at a time. Your photos and videos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We never receive a copy of them.

If your originals are stored in iCloud Photos, iOS may download them from Apple so they can be shown. That transfer is handled by Apple under your iCloud settings.

Photos are deleted only when you confirm a deletion from the To Delete bin and then approve iOS’s own confirmation. Deleted photos stay in Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days.

What the app stores on your device

To remember your progress, Trimroll keeps a local database on your device: which photos you kept, marked for deletion or skipped (by Apple’s photo identifier), their dates, types and file sizes, where you stopped in each mode, your deletion history and settings. To group similar photos, the app computes image fingerprints on your device with Apple’s Vision framework and stores them locally. We do not receive any of this data. Removing the app removes it, unless the operating system keeps it in a device backup.

Place names

When you open a photo’s details, the app may ask Apple’s geocoding service for the place name of the location stored in the photo. This sends the photo’s coordinates to Apple and is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive them.

Advertising

The free version shows occasional full-screen ads from Google Mobile Ads between photos. Premium removes them. The app requests non-personalized ads and does not ask to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Google and its advertising partners may still process device identifiers, advertising data, approximate location (for example from your IP address), product interaction and diagnostics to deliver, limit, measure and secure ads and to prevent fraud, according to your region and privacy choices. Where consent is required, the app asks for it before requesting ads, and you can change your choice any time in Settings → Privacy options.

Advertising processing relies on your consent where required. Google and its partners may also rely on legitimate interests or legal obligations for limited purposes such as security and fraud prevention, as explained in the consent form and their notices. See Google’s privacy policy and advertising information.

Purchases

Apple processes Premium purchases and subscriptions. We receive the transaction status and product identifier needed to unlock or restore Premium on your device. This processing is necessary to perform the purchase contract and to prevent fraud. We do not receive your payment details. See Apple’s privacy policy.

Crash reports

The app contains no analytics or tracking tools of its own. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and usage statistics that do not identify you.

Support and advertisement reports

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to answer your request, investigate a problem, or handle an advertisement report. This is based on taking steps at your request and our legitimate interest in supporting and protecting the app. Correspondence is normally deleted within 24 months after the matter is closed, unless it must be kept longer to establish or defend a legal claim.

Retention

Your decisions and settings remain on your device until you reset them in Settings, remove the app, or the operating system removes them. Apple retains purchase records and Google and its advertising partners retain ad data under their own retention policies. Advertising consent choices remain until they expire, you change them, or the consent system asks again.

International transfers

Google, Apple, and their service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Their privacy notices explain the locations and safeguards they use for these transfers, including applicable adequacy decisions and contractual safeguards.

Sharing and sale

We do not sell your data, and we never have access to your photos. Information handled by Google or Apple is governed by their policies and by the choices those services present to you.

Children

Trimroll is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Your rights

Depending on the processing, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive your personal data, or object to its use. You may withdraw advertising consent at any time from Settings → Privacy options. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before it.

The developer does not receive the data stored in the app. You can remove it with Settings → Reset all decisions or by deleting the app. Requests about data held directly by Apple or Google should also be made through their privacy tools. To exercise rights concerning information held by the developer, use the email address below. You may also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority or the authority where you live or work.

Automated decisions

We do not use personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. Suggestions such as the “best” photo in a group are computed on your device and only help you choose.
